Karma, Confessions, Holi and a New Story!

I just don't get the concept of hitting unsuspecting strangers walking on the road with water balloons in the name of Holi. I don't get the need for celebrating festivals at all is another thing altogether, but this thing of hitting people with water balloons is the most annoying one! Imagine, you are walking on the road, immersed in your own thoughts and then boom! there's a balloon on your shoulder and you're cursing the person with all the English expletives you know! I mean, if you're so into celebrating festivals, then celebrate it with your friends and family..... why are you dragging people whom you don't know into celebrating it! Actually, now it's become more of harassing women than celebrating Holi. Yes, I have become blunt. I know, by now, especially after reading the first two lines of this post and the entire last post, you must be wondering if I'am anti-social. No, I'm not anti-social.... I just don't like people! More so now, when I'm renewing my friendship with old friends at the same time of cutting ties...umm reducing ties with other friends. It's all a part of the game of life!

I'm just beginning to discover how ironical life is. On the one hand, I'm losing touch with my bestest friends while on the other hand, I'm making best friends out of friends. Similarly, I feel I've suddenly grown up in the past 6 months... I've not as naive as I was earlier.... I don't trust people that easily, I don't get hurt that easily....and most importantly.... I've learnt to let go of people......where as on the other hand, I feel like a kid.I mean, I was this over-matured person who, had directly gone to adult stage from infancy bypassing childhood (According to my Mom and Sis). But now, I feel young at heart. Feel like this lost childhood has come back to me! I feel like a 2 year old baby actually!! I've suddenly started liking kids is a different story altogether!

I know, the people who've been reading the story that I'm writing here are quite pissed with me,now that I've stopped writing the story. I'm really sorry guys, but I'm bored of the three of them! I'm now thinking of writing a new story.... it's a simple love story between a guy and girl... no love triangles involved...and it's their journey to getting married. This comes from an online challenge I had taken up unnecessarily on my Facebook status update when I said that Two States sucked big time and that I can write a better story than that!! So, I'll start writing that in some time....and then you decide which version of Two States is better! What do you get to vote for my version......umm.... I'll complete the story....how's that for a deal?!?? I know, I'll make an offer you can't reject!! For all the people who've been spending sleepless nights thinking of whatever happened to Ahaana, Anay and Arjun.... here's a little dope..... Ahaana finally got rid of her emotional baggage and the jerk, Anay .....and she lived happily ever after with Arjun. Now don't ask me what had Anay done to her... I just don't like Anay....and as it's my story.... so, I made Ahaana go with Arjun!!

Of Weddings And More....

Being a perpetual singleton, I was warned by all my couple-friends that being single is good, as when you're in a relationship, barring the initial six months, all you do the entire day is fight! I never believed this, until I saw it for myself. I was sitting with my best friends, who have been coupled since the past 4 years and here's a sample of their conversation which sent shivers down my spine, if I'd be doing the same after 4 odd months!

Girl : You've put on a lot of weight. (she then hit his hand when he came forward to eat fries at McD, and then ate the entire thing herself!)
Boy: Huh? Why do you always criticise me? I never criticise you!!
Girl : That means that you do want to criticise me!
Boy : I didn't mean that!
Girl : Oh yeah, what you meant was that now there are things in me that you want to criticise!!!

And this continued for the next seven days!!! Man! These coupled-since-a-long-time-couples are scary!!!

My Mom had been to a wedding last week and she told me all about it. It was a typical upper-rich class Gujju wedding ( I never knew I had rich relatives!!), so the wedding was like a typical Gujju wedding. Ostentatious. In your face exposure of your wealth...and yeah enough exhibition of gold to make you go blind. And I'm not exaggerating. The saying, "Diamonds are a girl's best friend" doesn't hold true for Gujju women! The only thing I hate about Gujjus is the pretense! I mean why do you have to call the entire town for your wedding? People who wouldn't give a fuck about you the minute they are off the stage after wishing you. People who's only discussion at your wedding would be either the girl is too good for the guy or the guy is too good for the girl and why is the cost per plate is so less (neverminding the fact that the cost per plate was 1050!). And I don't understand why people even pay so much to feed people who can very well feed themselves. When I was debating this with my aunts and uncles once, they said, it's all about feeling happy and sharing your happiness with people! Why not feed people who can't feed themselves. I'm sure you'd get more happiness in doing this!

I'm always accused of being a pseudo Gujju. And I'm glad of it! Rather be a pseudo Gujju than be a pretentious one! I've had a million fights with my my Mom regarding my own wedding. I always argue that I'd be more than happy to get married with only my parents, sister and 3-4 good friends of mine present. But, like all Moms always do, I was shut up! The older generation always accuses the newer generation being very friend oriented than being family/relative oriented. And I agree to that. I mean, when I cry, the person who is there patiently listening to me rant for 4 years is my best friend not my distant aunt!! But people today seldom want to see logic!!! To be honest, I've even made the guest list for my wedding! It has just 10 people from my side!! I'd only want these 10 people, because they've been there with me, even when I erred, patted my back when I did something good. Never left me wanting someone else. In a way, they've earned their way to my wedding.

I don't know why we have to do things the way they've been going on for years without questioning their rationale. And then, we complain that our education system sucks. We do the same there as well, don't we? I know it's a hard battle ahead to convince parents to get things done your way, but am sure it'll be worth the try. Of course, you could use the money they saved for your wedding for having an extravagant honeymoon!!!!! *wink* In the least, your parents' hard earned money would be spent on you and not on people who wouldn't care about you 10 seconds after they smile at you!

Like someone I know said, 'Let your parents win the battle today, you plan for the war for tomorrow!'

Dreams On Fire

You are my waking dream
You're all that's real to me
You are the magic in the world I see

You are the prayer
I sing
You brought me to my knees
You are the faith that made me believe

Dreams on fire
Higher n higher
Passions burning
Right on the pyre

Once far, forever yours
Give me
All your heart
Dreams on fire
Higher n higher

You are my ocean waves
You are my thought each day
You are the laughter from childhood games

You are the spark of dawn
You are where I belong
You are the ache I feel in every song

Dreams on fire
Higher n higher
Passions burning
Right on the pyre

Once far, forever yours
Give me
All your heart
Dreams on fire
Higher n higher
